Former Aperture, designed in collaboration with Lucas Zito,
is built from a rhythm of repeated printed segments surrounding a soft, dimmable light source. Shaped through process, material and restraint, the piece balances warmth, structure and quiet presence.
Former Aperture – Floor
Former Aperture Floor was designed in collaboration with Lucas Zito.
A tall, translucent column of layered light. Former Aperture explores rhythm, repetition and transparency, allowing light to travel through the printed structure and softly illuminate its surroundings.
Each piece is built from stacked printed segments, gradually forming a continuous vertical presence.
Designed by Stijn van Aardenne and Lucas Zito.
3D-printed translucent structure.
Integrated dimmable LED light source (2700K).
Dimensions: Ø16 × 150 cm
Weight: 14 kg
Lead time: ships within 4–6 weeks.
Former Aperture
Originally conceived in collaboration with Lucas Zito as Aperture, a design exploring rhythm and openings, this piece emerged from a transparent material test. What began as an experiment revealed an entirely new presence.
In this version, light is no longer framed by the form, it becomes the form. Each printed segment builds upon the next, layering depth, reflection and motion.
Former Aperture marks a shift from solidity to translucency, from object to atmosphere.
3D-printed translucent structure.
Integrated dimmable LED light source (2700K).
LED driver supplied as required.
Dimensions: Ø14 × 150 cm
Weight: 10 kg
Lead time: ships within 4–6 weeks.

Made to order, in any size
Former Aperture is created to fit your space — from 100 cm to 250 cm, and everything in between. Each piece is built to order, shaped as a continuous line of light that adapts to the architecture instead of competing with it.

Layers, but different
Printed in a transparent, glass-like recycled polymer, every cylinder follows the flow of the geometry. The layers soften the light and stretch it across the form, creating a quiet rhythm that changes as you move around it.

New life to old material
Former Aperture is made from recycled polymers with a clarity that feels almost mineral. What once was waste becomes a precise, atmospheric object — giving forgotten material a second life as light.
